Apronizing America

20130913_145841What does “Apronizing America ” mean, exactly?

This is a common thing I am asked quite often.

I believe that Aprons are a fashion accessory. I believe they can and should be worn out like one would wear a scarf, a necklace or a necktie. Apron can spice up ANY wardrobe, make, female, child, or even a pet or a doll!

When not wearing an apron out, I feel like I am leaving something behind.

But if I do, you can be sure that whatever I AM wearing is something I created, whether that is a Fascinator, a dress I made, my earrings, you name it, there is something from my creations.

Mostly, I love to make fashionable aprons because I hear the stigma of what people think an Apron is and I am not just out to get America to WEAR an Apron, I am trying to change a whole MINDSET!!

An Apron is NOT just for the Kitchen anymore and my aprons are NOT your grandma’s aprons.

I want to show you by creating fabulous things, dresses to go under them, fascinators to help accessorize them, and of course, Aprons that are spicy alternatives to dress up anything you wear or not wear (if you so prefer) to help add flair, spice and fabulousness to your life!

I am also NOT like other apron makers I have seen out there. Most work from their fabric in stock and create based on tissue paper patterns. Some design their own patterns, but then it is a constant “Cookie- Cutter” repeat of the same apron, with different fabric/textile.

I start from a Fashion Designer base FIRST! Meaning, I design based on the specs you give me in a quote from my Fashion Request Form. I then take that information and design within those parameters and then send you the design to approve. From there, within TWO WEEKS, I create your fabulous design.

You can choose if you want a Custom Apron or a BeSpoke Apron. Custom means I can use the design pattern I created for you and use it for another request. BeSpoke means you are the only one wit that design and it cannot be used for anything else.

You don’t see that from other Apron Makers, for the most part. I am sure there are one or two who “might” do that, but it is rare.

I feel and think this way of thinking has the potential to do as I desire and to help Apronize America because America will see how unique and different my aprons are as well as my mentality about wearing and using them.

Do I make Domestic Aprons? Yes, with Flair & Fabulousness!

Do I make other things? Yes, as long as they are true to my brand, meaning they will go WITH other things I create.

The questions I get asked most? Do I love what I do?

Yes. You know that song “Living what I love and loving what I do…”? That is the epitome of how I feel everyday.

What’s Next for Trisha Trixie?

Apron Builder. My Online Apron Creation Technology. On Apron Builder YOU are the designer. I give you the base template and you create what YOU desire. Then it gets printed and sent to you to construct by either sewing or other alternatives like No Stick Glue, Fabric Bond Adhesive or who knows, maybe you want to staple yours together! That is all on YOU!

What if I don’t want to use Apron Builder? Good thing you still have me! Trisha Trixie Designs will  still be the Custom BeSpoke Apron Maker and myself and my seamstresses will be available to be of service to you!

So, you see…there is no reason NOT to wear an apron and I have even made it simple and easy for you to do.

Now, Let’s Apronize America together!

Fashion Friday: Fashion Week 2015 News, Trends and Highlights

In New York, everything is coming to a close for Fashion Week. But since we are here, and not there, we don’t generally get the news about Fashion Week hounding us like they are in New York and LA, etc.  Unless of course, you are a Fashion Maven like me. I love Fashion. I love hearing about Fashion and I have been to Fashion Week twice now and am dearly wishing I was there again.

Since, I can’t, I follow all the fashion news I can. There are a variety of ways to do this, a Google Alert, signing up for Fashion week news. I have been watching and collecting various stories I thought might interest you.

What was being talked about

A little tidbit of recent info to share that showed up in this news was about Banana Republic who for the first time in a long time, showed up and shined for Fashion Week. Check out the story here, as well as many other stories to follow…

Trisha Trixie Tips Tuesday-Taggarrifiic

tag[1]

Just wanted to shout out to my pal Donna Grossman who owns That Girl Knitz, Rockabettie Bands and Rockabettie Boutique for her Taggarrific Tagging!

I learned a long time ago that is you want to be found online, if you have to TAG. If anyone knows how to tag it’s THAT GIRL (ha ha see what I did there)

I am a constant tagger too but even I lack tagging in certain categories that I see she had.

A good way to add tags to your own Blog or website is to do what I did today. Look at other sites that are similar to yours and copy their tags. There is nothing wrong with copying as long as it really does fit your site/blog. Search out sites that do similar things as you. look for blogs that are similar. I like Bloglovin because I can see other bloggers who do Fashion and Aprons and write in other ways like I do. Then I take a peek at their tags and see what they are tagging. Sometimes it is the same as mine, nothing new, but every now and then I come across a blogger who has completely different tags than I have and I think “Now why didn’t think of using that tag!?” When you see those, grab em! Copy them and add then to you Blog site or Website. Believe me, that one “little” tag could be the thing that gets you found online over other competitors!

If you don’t sell things Bikers would like, don’t use the tag word Biker. If you don’t sell Soap, don’t tag the word soap. Now if you write a blog about Soap, then Tag Soap. Am I making any sense here?

No, ok let’s go back. Only use tags for things you are talking about, selling, writing or doing.

But wait, you say, if  I use other tags that aren’t things I am doing, won’t that help bring business to my page? Well, you would think so. But what ends up happening is that people will come to your site looking for those items and then when they realize you don’t sell them and only used them to get you to their page, generally they get pretty upset about it.

If you want to use other tags to bring people to your site or page, the best way  I have found is to write a blog about those things. Then you can use the tags and write about them to generate more traffic.

Trisha Trixie Tuesday! Bespoke (Custom-Made-to-Order-MadetoMeasure)

What’s “Bespoke”?

Bespoke is an adjective for anything commissioned to a particular specification. “Custom-made”, “made to order”, “made to measure” and sometimes “hand-made” are near-synonyms.

The word bespoke is derived from the verb to bespeak, to “speak for something”, in the specialized meaning “to give order for it to be made” or commission, first cited from 1583 by the OED, with the adjective in its alternative form “bespoken” first quoted from 1607 in this sense.[1] The term is generally more prevalent in British English than American English, which tends to use “custom” instead, as in custom car, custom motorcycle etc.

So, with the bespoke items available from Trisha Trixie, you can create a customized items JUST FOR YOU! How do you do that?

GO HERE! Pick out the colors and fabric and Trisha Trixie will do the rest!

Product Review: That Girl Knitz, Maker/Creator Donna Grossman

20140418_114934

One of the things I have always loved to do is Product Reviews! When I had my other fashion business we were just kicking off into that and how I miss it. I even had an assistant, Corrina, who was my FashionEye and did them too. I miss having the chance to do reviews.

So when a local Entrepreneur, Donna Grossman, from That Girl Knitz, asked me to blog about her headbands and give them a whirl I, of course, jumped at the chance! Her website is www.thatgirlknitz.com.

I found Donna on one of the Handmade and Crafters groups. I fell in love with the mannequin  head she used for her image posts and asked if I could pay her for pictures of it. She gladly shared them without cost. The other reason I fell in love with the image was a fabulous knit hat the head was wearing.  Right away I had to say thank you and wanted this fabulous hat anyway!

Shown below is the fabulous knit hat I bought from her. I wore it as my St. Patrick’s Day Hat and got SO many compliments on it! I am a selfie girl so of course, I had to take many selfies with it!!

When, I received my package of Headbands Donna asked me to review, I fell in love again! Swoon! I mean wow, talk about talent. I am a seamstress and looking at these headbands I was blown away. Very ingenious!

She sent me such a wide variety of headbands and some of them even were FLEECE lined

I  love my Headbands. They don’t give me a headache! I can’t wait to help Donna sell them at some of my local shows and get the word out about this FABULOUS and Ah-Mazing product! Here is me wearing one with my Fabulous Fascinators! See how WELL they go together!!??

Fashionista Fall Fashion Tips (via Des Moines is NOT Boring)

Fabulous Friday!Be Fabulous Fabric

First off I want to apologize for the lack of posts lately. After I came back from NYFW my feet have been hitting the ground getting the word out for my Fun and Fabulous Fashion Show , my hands have been busily sewing away and my mind has been a bit single minded focus. But in the midst of all that came a few fun things I wanted to share with you!

I wanted to have some specialty fabric created for my Fashion Show and so I found this site called SpoonFlower that allow you to create any fabric, wallpaper or decal from a design. It is a bit pricey but so worth it. There are three fabrics from my Spoonflower Shop I will be showcasing in my show that I Custom Created. One will be worn by the Owner of Java Joe’s Amy Brehm who I made this cute Retro Black and White Apron for with a Be Fabulous Piece of Fabric made for her lower bib and top pockets.

I will have a couple of other great fabrics in the show as well. If you are an artist and would love to see your designs on a wall, a decal or on fabric go check them out.

If you want me to create an Apron from your designed fabric just use my contact form on this site and I would love to create one for you. If you want any other garment created, hit me up and I could connect you to someone who could make it for you I am nearly sure! 😉

Until next time,

Mad Men Monday: Who Are You?

I thought for today we would start the new blog with a little more style in what I have wanted Mad Men Monday to be about. About Mad Men. So I am going to start us off with a little quiz.

mad-men

What Mad Men Character are you? CLICK HERE TO FIND OUT

I took the Mad Men Quiz and got Trudy Campbell http://qz4.me/OFRiE8

I am Trudy CampbellI am Trudy Campbell

You are Trudy Campbell–devoted wife to Pete. Like, Trudy, you are supportive and caring, even when your actions aren’t always appreciated.

I think that is funny because at present I am NOT married but all the rest is true.

Take the quiz and come back here or on our Facebook page and tell us what Mad Men Character are you?

(To comment here click the little heart icon in the corner of this post and comment)

or Facebook Page Trisha Trixie Designs

Knowing who you are, who you resemble and what character you are committing to will help you to hone in on the traits and characteristics you desire to emulate. I was thinking I was either a Betty or a Joan but Trudy never came to mind. As soon as I saw the results, I thought “Hmm, yeah that could be me” LOL

I do however think I am more of a Betty. She was a model (like me) yet still had the stay at home life. Betty is very much a Grace Kelly kind of gal. Not sure just yet which one of those I would want to own up to. I think I need to research Trudy CAmpbell a bit more. Maybe the test is right, maybe I am more Trudy than Betty.

Betty: Pale Blues, Winter whites, camels, grays. Blonde hair, blue eyes, rosy lips and fair complexion.

Joan: Jewel tones, forest green, coral, purple, teal, and of course-Red. Alabaster skin and striking red lips.

Peggy: Mustard (though the character hates it) is her signature style. Lackluster tones of greens and yellows convey her modesty.

Trudy: A young city version of Betty (hmm maybe I am more of a Trudy). Cool Sixties prints, paisley and geometric, shades fo blue from teal to azure. She wears those colors to compliment her husbands suits. (Funny My man and I try to dress to compliment each other when we go out)

So the more I delve into each woman and character and share bits about Mad Men (I can’t wait until next season comes out) it will be interesting to see how things turn out for the cast as well as for myself in learning about this lifestyle.

I generally feel I am more of a 1930s, 40s, and 50’s kind of gal, but I do, (OH HOW I DO) love Mad Men. Maybe I could be a Mad Men gal after all. 🙂

What’s Going On? Rebranding to Trisha Trixie Designs

If you are a Follower of this site you may have noticed from last night to today that there have been a few changes.

Well, hold on to your hats because there is about to be more….

Recently I found out I am not able to use the Sensa name because Sensa the wight loss company owns the right to it.

So what does this mean? Well, anything I use with Sensa Fashion or Sensa…anything cannot be used as well.

I have had to go through a Re-branding before luckily so I know how to do this. It is not fun. It is tedious. Change all the names of where you are online. Change Twitter Accounts and emails. Change Blogs and Facebook pages, and so on and so forth.

People either love you or hate you for it I have found and in the midst of me growing I am hoping you grow with me and enjoy and welcome the change.

So why Trisha Trixie? Well, when I did my Re-branding the last time, my attorney said, “What is it that people know you by that no one can take away?”

My answer “Trisha Trixie”

And thus at THAT time became Trisha Trixie and Company. A Social Media and Web Company. But also in that time he advised that I go out and use the Trisha Trixie name so much there will never be an argument as to who owns the name. So I did. Go ahead. Good “Trisha Trixie” and you will be there for awhile. Images, pictures, logos, posts, you name it, there I am. So why not continue this trend when I decided to get back into PinUp Modeling? So I did that too.

This year my passion truly is to have a Vintage Inspired Apron Line and all the pretty things that go with it. My market is for Pin Up girls and moms and those who like the apron line and that embodiment of a retro or vintage woman.

I think Trisha Trixie embodies that.

But until I spoke to Susan from Business in Blue Jeans today I wasn’t aware of HOW MUCH it embodied it. Hearing someone else say it made me think about it more. Which then I researched more intently inside me thoughts of where I wanted to go and what I wanted to do. Was I willing to take the chance that the Sensa line could come after me? I did not want to build something up for someone to just take it away again. If I was going to change now, would be the time to do it.

I hope you all stay with me.

I hope you all will like the new changes we have in store for the rest of the year with this site and blog.

A new focus will be on Aprons, Recipes, Custom Made DIY projects, pretty things that go with aprons and things for PinUp Models as well that will go along with this line. The possibilities are not limited, in fact they are endless.

If you have any suggestions for us along the way, please let us know.

Since Corrina has alreadyprepared tomorrows post, I am going to leave it as is. Friday we will have our wrap up.

Starting Saturday I will be gearing you up for next week with a morsel of the direction the new site is going to take.

Sunday I am going to ask Corrina to share on of her favorite Sunday recipes.

And by Monday we will be in full force, look and direction for a new era of Trisha Trixie Designs.

I have already changed the logo of the site and the name…more changes will follow but I will try not to make them TOO drastically as I don’t want to give you all whiplash.

Thank you for following.

Thank you to those who understand and support.

I would love to hear your support and suggestions in our comments. Please click the little heart in the corner and share with us your thoughts. My Apron arms and ears are ready and waiting. You can also come check out our new look and LIKE it or LOVE it on our Facebook Page Trisha Trixie Designs.

Spectacular Sunday~Spectacular Eyes

Spectacular Sunday~Asian Beauty

Here we are! Another spectacular Sunday. We have some eyes that will amaze you. Dramatic eye make up. Must-see beauty.

I realize this  may seem not-so-subtle but for a memorable effect it is perfect to design as an accessory to your fashion for classy events.

This design is perfect for runway shows, fashion events and parties as well.

This is definitely dramatic. Would be excellent to wear to a theatrical show or something similar. Possibly even a period genre activity.

Here I see a design that is just like the model, happy, bold and fun! For any occasion.

This bold and beautiful look is perfect for an evening out for fine dining and leisure.

Once again, a fresh and fun look for a fresh and fun face.

Saucy, sexy, sultry. Bold color and vivid expression over the eyes draw you deep into the look.

I am so drawn to Asian beauties, their clothing fashions and their makeup as well. This is no exception.

Proud as a peacock and the bright blue eyes to accentuate the look.

Throwback Thursday~ Barbie is Fashion?

Throwback Thursday~ Barbie is Fashion?

throwbackthursday2

Yes, I can hear you thinking to yourselves “Did I read that right? Did she say Barbie Fashion?” And I did say that. Barbie is as old as some of us are and older than others. But she was just as much a part of the fashiontude in the 40’s as were some of the top designers.Take a look and see what I mean. She emulated all the latest styles and even boosted their acceptance at times. From Vogue to Couture.

For throwbacks, these outfits are still eye-catching today and almost equally as popular.

I guess folks decided that these designs were keepers after all.

That’s all for this Throwback.

Accesories to Zippers, The A-Z of where I was to where I want to be

Our current challenge from IFB is to discuss Why we started our blog ? She said for us to DIG DEEP and

“talk about why you started, and what you hope to accomplish. It’ll be nice to look back on this in six months or a year. Trust me!”

Well, I guess she must be reading a few Fashionista’s mind because I was planning on writing about this and as I read the comments below the questions on IFB I see others were planning on the same thing!! (You didn’t know Janine was a mind reader did you?)

I started my blog a few years ago when I was styling and doing some personal shopping on the side for a few clients. Then I was asked to model in a local fashion show and was featured in our local Juice magazine with the Three Styles of Patrica Hunter because people and papers kept taking pics of me and telling me what a great Sense of Style and Sense of Fashion I had. There it was. There is where the name was given birth. I thought to myself, “I have always been told I have a Sense of Fashion so why not blog about it!”

It was a horrible slow going process. I had been blogging on Blogger for other reasons personally for years but to try and share with others on what my idea and sense of fashion was was a lot harder than I imagined. I didn’t want people to look down on me if they disagreed. I was also afraid to share because I didn’t want others to think of me as Haughty or Prideful. Slowly I kept trudging on but in the end I wanted more than just being a blogger at that time.

Des Moines is great for Technology Startups. There are networking events for Start Up Drinks and Social Media Start Ups and nearly anything having to do with technology. I figured to truly make it here in Des Moines I need to create something that appealed to this bane of cliques in this genre. I had a Web and Social Media business at the time and that was more my bread and butter so I thought the transition would be as easy as creating a great Fashion Community and Portal and people would just flock to sign on!!

The community was going to have Models and Photographers as well as other Designers and Fashionistas all sharing their knowledge and connecting. I thought it was a grand idea where one could ask questions and connect and be helped from all facets. I thought it was fabulous. Well, or so I thought is the key phrase. It dragged as well. I went networking and pitched it at BarCampOmaha and even pitched it to StartUpCityDSM a company that helps Tech Start Ups. I got a few other ideas from BarCamp but when I left StartUpCityDSM I left with my tail between my leg and let their thoughts influence me too much. StartUpCityDSM was helpful, don’t get me wrong, but a room full of investors, launchers and those who knew how to make things happen launching and throwing questions after questions at me of things I didn’t think of, like why would people pay for the site, what was I giving away, who was I connecting with, did I have a business plan and so on, scared the dickens out of me and I don’t scare easily!

I set the blog and the fashion idea out of my head and went back to my bread and butter adding in a side of Freelance for big Companies from time to time. But I hated it. I was miserable. I was an Entrepreneur not a Cube Girl! Why was I living this life? I was not one to do things I did not want to do so why was I doing this when really I wanted to create, design and write about fashion and get back into both sides of the world on the modeling side and the fashion side??

So at the end of last year 2012 I walked into the living room and told my live in boyfriend I wanted to go back into modeling full time, as a PinUp model and I wanted to explore the fashion business again. He sat there quietly and then said, “I have just three questions for you?”

“Is it going to make you happy?”

“Can you make money at it?”

“What do you need from me?”

I answered “Yes, Yes and Support!”

He said, “Ok then do it! I believe in you!

So I started with modeling and have been rebuilding my portfolio. My Model name is Trisha Trixie

_MG_1184small

So far that has been grand and little by little I have been featured on a few PinUp Sites and this week was asked to be a Ruthless PinUp girl and the Ruthless Fashionista.  I am also  now the Fashion Blogger for DesMoinesisNotBoring.com and write about Fashion and events that I go to as the Fashionista for SensaFashion around town to prove the fashion is DesMoines is not boring either!! Lastly, I write for myself and my sister/intern writes and assists me with blog writing and things needed for SensaFashion.

I decided two weeks after I heard about IFBCON to go and I won a three night stay at the W Hotel, got a free bracelet from Alex and Ani and met some amazing people and made some amazing contacts! I just knew in my gut I had to go as it would be the launch of my year and it WAS!!

I am also avidly designing and creating for my Vintage Inspired Apron line and also creating Reconstruscted Fashions taking your clothes from Drab to Fab! Not only has the modeling been going well but this has been moving along for me too! I had one order already for a bakery in Jefferson Iowa where we made 6 custom Aprons for her small business.

WIW: Fashions by SensaFashion-Thank you IFB!

annnddd… I have been selling my ReConstrusted Fashions at booths and shows around town. I have been trying my hand at a few E-commerce sites but that has been a chore. Every time I wear one of my fashions people beg me for a card and ask “Where can I buy your items? I have tried to direct them to buy online but I felt this last week what I really needed was to be where the people could SEE my fashions and was hoping to find a store I could sell them at by renting space or being on consignment to being since overhead is quite costly.

sf

Well, as the fates would have it my pals have my back and my friend Shari just email introduced myself and her other friend together that has a small business called Cheryl’s Borrowed Occasions where she rents out prom and wedding dresses, shoes and misc accessories.  Not only did we discuss renting my items there (would would be wonderful residual income) but she always is possibly interested in having me ReConstruct some of the dresses and items she already has to make them more sellable. We meet next week and I can’t wait to see how this turns out! Stay tuned on my blog to find out!!

To me, my future is now bright. I see this going in the direction I desire it to so I guess we will see in 6 months.

My Future Desires:

  • I hope to accomplish a full line of Aprons and show at Omaha Fashion Week and one day soon at New York Fashion Week.
  • I hope to be able to sell in a boutique or store for at least the next 6 months to a year
  • I hope to have my own boutique in the next two years
  • I hope to be known as a name in the PinUp industry for TrishaTrixie and SensaFashion for my modeling uniqueness and my amazing fashions
  • I hope to be published in online and offline magazines and hopefully some widely known ones
  • I hope to be a speaker at a variety of events in my town and in other places about these accomplishments
  • I hope to one day be one of the speakers at IFBCON within the next two years if not sooner (wink and smile)
  • I hope TrishaTrixie and SensaFashion to be names people hear and learn to love!

I am a dreamer and believer.

Failure is only one step to success and I had that so now I am moving on.

I am loving the ride of life I am on (as I generally do) and I have no clue where things WILL go but I know I am going to work as hard and smart as I can to get there. I will use out of the box thinking and my uniqueness to get me there!

Thanks for this challenge. I enjoy being a part of IFB and am so glad I went to IFBCON. It changed my life.

Try It Tuesday~Tie, Scarf, Tie

Try It Tuesday~It's A Stretch

The idea of women wearing scarves tied around their neck isn’t surprising or unique. However, women wearing a tie is less common. Many years ago I colored my hair flaming red and wore men’s ties to work. It was liberating, refreshing and fun. Remembering that made me think back and reflect of how uncommon it still is. This surprised me. With all the new advances in the mind of society I really thought ties on women would be more common. But it’s not. There are businesses that require the staff, male and female, to wear a tie. But women don’t wear them “just because”. It was this line of thinking that brought me to today’s post.

Women’s Ties

Scarf

Women’s Ties

Being,  claustrophobic I guess, I prefer the tie over the scarf. I’ve worn ties and scarves. The scarf is usually so thick and bulky

I feel suffocated just looking at someone else in them. I have a very hard time wearing it myself. With this issue in mind,

SensaFashion’s Trisha Trixie has contrived a very narrow, ultra-lightweight scarf for me to try out. I will be wearing it today.

She also makes Buckle Scarves TM and HoopScarves you can try.

I’ll try to get a picture of me wearing it to share with you. What about you? Will you try it? Either one? If you do let us know.

Share with us. Which one did you choose? Why did you go with your choice? Have you worn it before? Did it bother you?

Did others notice or say anything. To see my “try it” photo be sure to look on our Facebook page at the link below:

Wishcasting Wednesday: Learn

If you follow my other Blog As Days Go By you know I generally write my Wishcasting over there. But I wanted to do something different today and try it out over here. As well Today’s question goes hand in hand with Fashion and you will see why:

Wishcasting Wednesday: What do you wish to learn?

I wish to learn MORE about Fashion Essentials.

  • I love learning
  • I do know how to sew, but I am self taught with some basics in quilting and what my Grandma Hunter taught me (which was brief)
  • I have always been a Fashionista, but styling and designing are two separate things.
  • As I am an artist I did Fashion Illustrations for years fearing taking the leap into fashion.
  • When I did try to launch things two years ago the timing was not right and I tucked my tail between my legs and ran off whimpering saying “Oh I can’t have a Fashion business because some  Entrepreneurial Company that helps start ups told me so“. I don’t know what I was thinking. I rarely listen to the static so why did I listen then? Who knows, but I am listening now.
  • I wanted to get back into modeling for years but felt stifled by the person I was with and their insecurities about me and about the industry. With me leaping back into modeling , it helped me look at my life and leap back into Fashion. I am EXTREMELY happy I did!!
  • I now have a few people that work with me, Interns, Independent Contractor Seamstresses, and more.
  • Though all of this is GREAT and WONDERFUL I have been realizing, I am missing something.
  • All my Fashion Design skills and sewing skills, Analysis, Design, Buying, Merchandising etc are all self taught with maybe one or two jobs in the Fashion Industry.
  • What will it take for me to REALLY be GREAT???
  • LEARNING
  • I have investigated what it will take for me to go back to school.
  • I have Design training but it is an overall Design Degree as well as my Liberal Arts Degree. These are great but I think I would highly benefit from learning more about some Fashion Essentials.
  • I have looked at my options and the best best seems to be the local Community College here called DMACC, Des Moines Area Community College with courses in Fashion for a Fashion Degree or Certification https://go.dmacc.edu/pibs/documents/FSHNDSGN.PDF
  • In the meantime I am reading up on books and classes I find online. Still learning and more self taught but at least I am able to GLEAN and LEARN this way and I feel lucky because I know many who cannot. Free Fashion Courses Online

So in essence what I wish to know more about is what I wish to create…Fashion…

What do you wish to learn? Say hi here on the blog below and while you are at it, come on down and check me out in my many places that have led me to here…

Try It Tuesday~Tye Dye Today

When I first started hearing about Tie Dye being back in fashion I must admit I cringed a little. Let me explain myself, for those who are heating up and saying “how could you not like it!” And for those agreeing, let’s take a step back and consider a few things.

Tie Dye today is not the same as it was in the 70’s. I can back that up too. I started out looking and looking with a very biased mind and eye. I was sure that today’s Tie Dye was the same as it used to be. I was sure of it. THEN, I stumbled upon these:

Now I do have to admit that the skirt alone would  not be up to par but they attached it to a nice outfit. Still not convinced?

Check out these then:

This one has a nice vibrant coloring to it which makes it more appealing. It is also not a t-shirt or shorts. The colors do not blur together in a rather neutral shade either.

Stay with me now, I have more. I am determined that you can enjoy Tie Dye as much as I’m learning to.

With a front and back view this is encouraging
yet I am not a fan of the sheer skirting attached
to the back of it. I personally feel that it takes
away from the “elegance” of the dress. I must
admit though, the shoes caught my eye first!
And it gets even better. This one has elegance and class. I might consider this dress “dance worthy”.
And here’s one you could actually wear to a nice function or even to work at the office!
I have to add that it does have the swirl of the older Tie Dye but it seems “classier” here.
.
And speaking of the office….
For those with a more casual style, there are a few for you as well.

As a final coo I add this one last photo.
While I wouldn’t go for the shade shown here, it does tantalize the mind and
tempt one to try it on other hosiery. Maybe Tie Dye white tights/hose?

These are not necessarily Tie to Dye for but they do put a new perspective on an old fashion idea.
I hope you find this new old fashion interesting enough to go out and “try it”. Maybe by next Tuesday?
If you do choose to, be sure to come back and share your experience with us and some photos too.

Spectacular Sunday~It’s A Jungle Out There

Jungles, their patterns and wildlife have long been favorites in the fashion world. Today is no exception. It has been my experience that these themes tend to be favored by those who are considered more “eccentric”. Especially those in positions of leadership, red heads, and women with long, manicured nails. But this is not always the case. Here are some spectacular jungle-themed items to view.

Fashion walks a fine line along the boundaries of
CHEETAH
 -VS-
LEOPARD
Clearly the cheetah has “spots” but the leopard has “splotches”.
These shoes were listed as
Leopard, but they are not, they are cheetah
These gloves are the only ones I found that were correctly labeled cheetah.

I did not find many leopard items.
Another cat favorite is the tiger.

The animal print I’ve seem more commonly lately is that of the zebra.

Giraffe comes in blacks and browns but I have yet to see a real giraffe with black spots.
That’s okay, fashion comes in all types of colors so that’s all that matters.

In the world of fashion, it is a jungle out there. But with a little help and guidance
you don’t have to be lost. For more help go to our FB page:
