Apronizing America

20130913_145841What does “Apronizing America ” mean, exactly?

This is a common thing I am asked quite often.

I believe that Aprons are a fashion accessory. I believe they can and should be worn out like one would wear a scarf, a necklace or a necktie. Apron can spice up ANY wardrobe, make, female, child, or even a pet or a doll!

When not wearing an apron out, I feel like I am leaving something behind.

But if I do, you can be sure that whatever I AM wearing is something I created, whether that is a Fascinator, a dress I made, my earrings, you name it, there is something from my creations.

Mostly, I love to make fashionable aprons because I hear the stigma of what people think an Apron is and I am not just out to get America to WEAR an Apron, I am trying to change a whole MINDSET!!

An Apron is NOT just for the Kitchen anymore and my aprons are NOT your grandma’s aprons.

I want to show you by creating fabulous things, dresses to go under them, fascinators to help accessorize them, and of course, Aprons that are spicy alternatives to dress up anything you wear or not wear (if you so prefer) to help add flair, spice and fabulousness to your life!

I am also NOT like other apron makers I have seen out there. Most work from their fabric in stock and create based on tissue paper patterns. Some design their own patterns, but then it is a constant “Cookie- Cutter” repeat of the same apron, with different fabric/textile.

I start from a Fashion Designer base FIRST! Meaning, I design based on the specs you give me in a quote from my Fashion Request Form. I then take that information and design within those parameters and then send you the design to approve. From there, within TWO WEEKS, I create your fabulous design.

You can choose if you want a Custom Apron or a BeSpoke Apron. Custom means I can use the design pattern I created for you and use it for another request. BeSpoke means you are the only one wit that design and it cannot be used for anything else.

You don’t see that from other Apron Makers, for the most part. I am sure there are one or two who “might” do that, but it is rare.

I feel and think this way of thinking has the potential to do as I desire and to help Apronize America because America will see how unique and different my aprons are as well as my mentality about wearing and using them.

Do I make Domestic Aprons? Yes, with Flair & Fabulousness!

Do I make other things? Yes, as long as they are true to my brand, meaning they will go WITH other things I create.

The questions I get asked most? Do I love what I do?

Yes. You know that song “Living what I love and loving what I do…”? That is the epitome of how I feel everyday.

What’s Next for Trisha Trixie?

Apron Builder. My Online Apron Creation Technology. On Apron Builder YOU are the designer. I give you the base template and you create what YOU desire. Then it gets printed and sent to you to construct by either sewing or other alternatives like No Stick Glue, Fabric Bond Adhesive or who knows, maybe you want to staple yours together! That is all on YOU!

What if I don’t want to use Apron Builder? Good thing you still have me! Trisha Trixie Designs will  still be the Custom BeSpoke Apron Maker and myself and my seamstresses will be available to be of service to you!

So, you see…there is no reason NOT to wear an apron and I have even made it simple and easy for you to do.

Now, Let’s Apronize America together!

Trisha Trixie Tuesday! Bespoke (Custom-Made-to-Order-MadetoMeasure)

What’s “Bespoke”?

Bespoke is an adjective for anything commissioned to a particular specification. “Custom-made”, “made to order”, “made to measure” and sometimes “hand-made” are near-synonyms.

The word bespoke is derived from the verb to bespeak, to “speak for something”, in the specialized meaning “to give order for it to be made” or commission, first cited from 1583 by the OED, with the adjective in its alternative form “bespoken” first quoted from 1607 in this sense.[1] The term is generally more prevalent in British English than American English, which tends to use “custom” instead, as in custom car, custom motorcycle etc.

So, with the bespoke items available from Trisha Trixie, you can create a customized items JUST FOR YOU! How do you do that?

What’s Going On? Rebranding to Trisha Trixie Designs

If you are a Follower of this site you may have noticed from last night to today that there have been a few changes.

Well, hold on to your hats because there is about to be more….

Recently I found out I am not able to use the Sensa name because Sensa the wight loss company owns the right to it.

So what does this mean? Well, anything I use with Sensa Fashion or Sensa…anything cannot be used as well.

I have had to go through a Re-branding before luckily so I know how to do this. It is not fun. It is tedious. Change all the names of where you are online. Change Twitter Accounts and emails. Change Blogs and Facebook pages, and so on and so forth.

People either love you or hate you for it I have found and in the midst of me growing I am hoping you grow with me and enjoy and welcome the change.

So why Trisha Trixie? Well, when I did my Re-branding the last time, my attorney said, “What is it that people know you by that no one can take away?”

My answer “Trisha Trixie”

And thus at THAT time became Trisha Trixie and Company. A Social Media and Web Company. But also in that time he advised that I go out and use the Trisha Trixie name so much there will never be an argument as to who owns the name. So I did. Go ahead. Good “Trisha Trixie” and you will be there for awhile. Images, pictures, logos, posts, you name it, there I am. So why not continue this trend when I decided to get back into PinUp Modeling? So I did that too.

This year my passion truly is to have a Vintage Inspired Apron Line and all the pretty things that go with it. My market is for Pin Up girls and moms and those who like the apron line and that embodiment of a retro or vintage woman.

I think Trisha Trixie embodies that.

But until I spoke to Susan from Business in Blue Jeans today I wasn’t aware of HOW MUCH it embodied it. Hearing someone else say it made me think about it more. Which then I researched more intently inside me thoughts of where I wanted to go and what I wanted to do. Was I willing to take the chance that the Sensa line could come after me? I did not want to build something up for someone to just take it away again. If I was going to change now, would be the time to do it.

I hope you all stay with me.

I hope you all will like the new changes we have in store for the rest of the year with this site and blog.

A new focus will be on Aprons, Recipes, Custom Made DIY projects, pretty things that go with aprons and things for PinUp Models as well that will go along with this line. The possibilities are not limited, in fact they are endless.

If you have any suggestions for us along the way, please let us know.

Since Corrina has alreadyprepared tomorrows post, I am going to leave it as is. Friday we will have our wrap up.

Starting Saturday I will be gearing you up for next week with a morsel of the direction the new site is going to take.

Sunday I am going to ask Corrina to share on of her favorite Sunday recipes.

And by Monday we will be in full force, look and direction for a new era of Trisha Trixie Designs.

I have already changed the logo of the site and the name…more changes will follow but I will try not to make them TOO drastically as I don’t want to give you all whiplash.

Thank you for following.

Thank you to those who understand and support.

I would love to hear your support and suggestions in our comments. Please click the little heart in the corner and share with us your thoughts. My Apron arms and ears are ready and waiting. You can also come check out our new look and LIKE it or LOVE it on our Facebook Page Trisha Trixie Designs.

Spectacular Sunday~Spectacular Eyes

Spectacular Sunday~Asian Beauty

Here we are! Another spectacular Sunday. We have some eyes that will amaze you. Dramatic eye make up. Must-see beauty.

I realize this  may seem not-so-subtle but for a memorable effect it is perfect to design as an accessory to your fashion for classy events.

This design is perfect for runway shows, fashion events and parties as well.

This is definitely dramatic. Would be excellent to wear to a theatrical show or something similar. Possibly even a period genre activity.

Here I see a design that is just like the model, happy, bold and fun! For any occasion.

This bold and beautiful look is perfect for an evening out for fine dining and leisure.

Once again, a fresh and fun look for a fresh and fun face.

Saucy, sexy, sultry. Bold color and vivid expression over the eyes draw you deep into the look.

I am so drawn to Asian beauties, their clothing fashions and their makeup as well. This is no exception.

Proud as a peacock and the bright blue eyes to accentuate the look.

Spectacular Sunday~Shoe Ked!

Indeed it is a spectacular Sunday. I am a person of heightened sensitivity. I have Myofascial Pain Syndrome. I am unable to wear regular shoes due to the sensitivity in my feet. Tops, bottoms, sides, toes. The entire thing. My whole body, actually. But for today we are focusing on the feet.

The reason for our focus on feet is due to a recent incident. I was given a pair of shoes. Not just any shoes. A pair of Keds. Not just any Keds either. Hand designed Keds. Keds designed by Miss Trisha Hunter, our Fashionista, specially for me. And these shoes are special for other reasons as well. I love the way they look. They are adorable. You’ve got to see them. Oh…now? You want to see them now? Okay okay. Here they are:

Okay, I hear you. You are soooo NOT impressed. I understand. This is just phase 1 of the shoes. They were all blue and she added the white to the toes. Interesting effect. But she doesn’t stop there. Oh noooo. She added embellishments with just the right flair for my day job. Child Care Teacher! Would you care to see the finished product with all the cuties on them? ……I was hoping you would say that. Here they are!

Aren’t they just ADORABLE! ? And the extra boost is that I could wear them. I wore them the whole 8 hours of the day. I was nervous at first when my shift ended as I am used to having very tender and sore feet at the end of the day. You see, I had to resort to wearing thick soled house shoes at work as they are fuller and friendlier on my feet. That way there was no rubbing on my feet and a softer base to walk on. The problem was that the soles wore down so quickly and I had to keep buying new inserts or new house shoes.

With these little darlings though, I had no such issues. I was able to stand, walk, crawl, and wallow around with the kids and still walk at the end of the day. The first day the bottom of my feet had a very slight sore spot that I believe was due to the new foundation I was walking on. But since it was mild I forged ahead and wore them the next day. At the end of that day….no issues. Didn’t notice any tenderness with my feet or toes. And an extra bonus is that they are so fun to wear. The kids love ’em, parents love ’em, coworkers love ’em. Most importantly, I love ’em! Thank you SensaFashion for the kind gift. They have brought much joy to many.

You can see how happy I am to have them by this picture below:
.

Now that’s a happy person!!! Again, THANK YOU SensaFashion!

I have been looking all over the web for these exact pair of shoes. They are Keds Stretch Pure Fit System shoes and are nowhere to be found thus far. I did locate a pair of Keds that appear similar to what I have. I may have to try them out. It is difficult with Myofascial Pain Syndrome to find comfort and a risk to stray from the tried and true.

I’ve examined my pair very closely to try discerning what it is that makes them so comfortable. Here are my findings. Look closely at the lines of the shoe and how they are put together.

They are a stretch shoe and there are no separations across the box for the toes. It is one solid piece. This leaves no seams to rub against the knuckles of the toes. I am certain that is one of the advantages. Unlike these shown below, which are also Keds .

This pair also has the addition of “breather” holes on the inside allowing fresh air in. Miss Trisha added a pair of stretch laces and I noticed there is a stretch band across the Achilles tendon area as well.
This is shown below:

The extras make this particular pair of shoes as comfortable for me to wear as they are a pleasure. Another thing I want to share with you is the motive behind these shoes for me. I love high heels. With the combination of the Myofascial Pain Syndrome and bulging discs in my neck and back, I am unable to wear the “pretty flats” and the “sexy heels”. That just wouldn’t do for Miss Trisha though. She firmly believes that everyone should be able to feel attractive in what they wear. That no one should have to settle for “plain and/or frumpy” (as I put it). So she set out on this venture to bring me a pair of shoes that I could and would enjoy wearing and I’d feel good in. Thanks you  SensaFashion..

Saturday Morning Special: Let’s Talk About IFB, Let’s Talk About You and Me, Let’s Talk About All The Good Things That Will Be

Let’s Talk About IFB,
Let’s Talk About You and Me,
Let’s Talk About All The Good Things That Will Be

What is all the hype about the IFB Fashion Conference you say? Well, it is the place we we as fashion bloggers mark our spot as as IFB states “solidify our place” as a Fashion Blogger. We get to meet all these famous people, learn from them, from their mishaps and misfortunes as well as what worked and helped them succeed. We get to meet other Fashion Bloggers we have been tweeting with and Facebooking with and put faces and names together.  I love how IFB says it is like Day Camp.

This will be my first year. For one I just found out about IFB. I didn’t even know they existed until this year. I happened upon someone else’s blog and sadly I don’t know who. I was searching online for some fashion seamstresses in my area and saw it on someone’s blog who DOESN’T live here and was like What is that? and after further investigation fell in love at first viewing! I signed up right away and started diving and delving in. As soon as I saw the IFBCON was but a few mere weeks away I started figuring out means and ways to get there.

At the tail end of last year I made the leap to get back into modeling full time. A few years a go I had SensaFashion as a business and had GRAND PLANS for this Blogging and Designing business and even met with a StartUpCityDSM a company here in Des Moines but plans fail to execute in my favor so I put it on the back burner and moved into a different direction. They helped me realize I wasn’t ready and though I felt like I left with my tail between my legs they did me a grand favor.

At the beginning of this year I reawakened SensaFashion and my Fashion Blogging, as well as my Design business and other services I offer. Things are moving forward well and fast and furious already and it isn’t even the end of January.

I tell you all this because it goes into why I feel it is important for me to go to NY now at this time and this moment in my career. With these new changes and how well things are doing for SensaFashion I did some demographic research. At the beginning of the month/year I was only reaching 32 people a day and now before the end of the month I am reaching over 600 people a day. That is without connections, without ads, without help. Where is the bump coming from? Independent Fashion Bloggers. I am nearly sure of it.

Yes, I do believe  my constant marketing and knowledge being a Social Media Strategiest has played a huge part, but I truly feel IFB has made a difference in my life and to wait and miss this opportunity I think would be a HUGE disservice to me and my company and my brand.

In the past few weeks changes have already begun taking place. I took a leap to say no to someone who was sucking the life out me and focus on my business and doors flung themselves open to me. I shared my design to a Bakery who is opening their doors to the public and they loved my Vintage Apron and Shirt Dress Design from my new line and placed the first order. A site that is widely known here http://www.desmoineisnotboring.com asked me to write a few pieces about the before, during and after of IFBCON as well be their regular Fashion Blogger (of which I am completely thrilled btw). I now have one Executive Assistant and two interns who also write on the blog with me and things are going swimmingly well. Life is moving along better than I could have EVER imaged and I have a pretty good imagination!!
(I think Disney-esque my friends say)

I can’t wait to go to IFBCON. I can’t wait to learn and grow and take my business to the next level. I know, I just know deep in my heart and gut that going to IFB will help me to do that and get there.  I am a leaper. I take chances. I know and realize not everyone feels this way. But I will say to you and encourage ALL of you who can, get your tickets to IFBCON.

I think it will change your life.

It already has changed mine.
