Trisha Trixie Tips Tuesday-Taggarrifiic

tag[1]

Just wanted to shout out to my pal Donna Grossman who owns That Girl Knitz, Rockabettie Bands and Rockabettie Boutique for her Taggarrific Tagging!

I learned a long time ago that is you want to be found online, if you have to TAG. If anyone knows how to tag it’s THAT GIRL (ha ha see what I did there)

I am a constant tagger too but even I lack tagging in certain categories that I see she had.

A good way to add tags to your own Blog or website is to do what I did today. Look at other sites that are similar to yours and copy their tags. There is nothing wrong with copying as long as it really does fit your site/blog. Search out sites that do similar things as you. look for blogs that are similar. I like Bloglovin because I can see other bloggers who do Fashion and Aprons and write in other ways like I do. Then I take a peek at their tags and see what they are tagging. Sometimes it is the same as mine, nothing new, but every now and then I come across a blogger who has completely different tags than I have and I think “Now why didn’t think of using that tag!?” When you see those, grab em! Copy them and add then to you Blog site or Website. Believe me, that one “little” tag could be the thing that gets you found online over other competitors!

If you don’t sell things Bikers would like, don’t use the tag word Biker. If you don’t sell Soap, don’t tag the word soap. Now if you write a blog about Soap, then Tag Soap. Am I making any sense here?

No, ok let’s go back. Only use tags for things you are talking about, selling, writing or doing.

But wait, you say, if  I use other tags that aren’t things I am doing, won’t that help bring business to my page? Well, you would think so. But what ends up happening is that people will come to your site looking for those items and then when they realize you don’t sell them and only used them to get you to their page, generally they get pretty upset about it.

If you want to use other tags to bring people to your site or page, the best way  I have found is to write a blog about those things. Then you can use the tags and write about them to generate more traffic.

Trixie Tuesdays: Online Networking Hints, Tips and Tricks

I am going to try out a new blog day. When I had my web and social media business I used to have Trixie Tuesdays and I think it went rather well. I figured I would give it a go over here on my new blog and talk about things I would like to share.

For today’s Trixie Tuesdays I want to talk to you about Online Networking.

For starters: Ladders

I use these Social Media Ladders and Promote my Pages on Linked In and so far they have gone rather well for me.

I don’t want link to any certain one because I think many of them work and they each have their unique qualities.

In FB Search “Promote” or “Ladder” and see what you find. I generally go for the ones with the highest count number and link my page there, like the pages above where I commented and then comment “Liked all pages above”. When I receive a message on my page from someone who says they stopped by from a specific ladder I return the like.

For Linkedin I am a part of a variety of Groups that pertain to what I do, Vintage, Aprons, PinUp, Modeling, and Local Networking Groups.  On many of them they ask that you don’t over promote but generally have one discussion that states “Add you FB or Webpage here”. I take a gander at the pages listed before me, connect with others and like the pages I can.

On Twitter, I receive an email that says “Other profiles like ____” and it is someone I already follow. Now I follow a wide variety so depending on who it is telling me, decides whether or not I take the time to click on the link and follow them. If I have the time, I might do a shout out to them saying hi or “New Follow from @TrishaTrixie” and give them my handle back.

On Instagram, I look at what others are liking and maybe double tap a picture someone else liked and if I like the profile enough, I might follow it.  I sometimes Search for items like mine and find followers that way too.

What I want to impress is that this should NOT be hours of activity. This should be 5 or 10 minutes of your day.

When I tell people how I get more followers and contacts etc they says they do the same thing, but it “takes so long”.

I set a 5 minute timer and then allot this time for Online Networking.  When the timer is up, I am done. You do not need to spend hours doing these things. I take turns on what Social Media I spend doing this on. One day FB, One day LI, the next day Twitter and so on.

I also gain followers by Hashtagging or Mentioning. Hashtagging is when you add the number sign in front of something you want to call attention to. YES it works on Facebook too and is NOT just for Twitter anymore. For example #TrishaTrixie will show me any hits on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook that I or others have tagged. When someone wants to mention me they use the @TrishaTrixie and I see a mention on all Social Media.

This is not only great for tracking myself, by I SFS (which I JUST found out this week means Shout for Shout). I might tag or Shout out someone or a business and then if they shout back it is a SFS. It’s the “you scratch mine Ill scratch yours ” theory.

All of these have immensely helped me gain followers and comments and YES interaction. But one last thing about interaction is that you need to be asking for it. You can’t just post and post. Ask questions, ask for feedback, do polls whatever it takes to hear what others are saying. The more you engage, I feel the better relationship you end up having with your followers.

Well, there you go. There are some Trixie Tips for you for what works for me. I was a Web and Social Media Specialist for years and these are also things I would tell my clients. Now, of course that doesn’t mean it works for everyone, but many times

What’s Going On? Rebranding to Trisha Trixie Designs

If you are a Follower of this site you may have noticed from last night to today that there have been a few changes.

Well, hold on to your hats because there is about to be more….

Recently I found out I am not able to use the Sensa name because Sensa the wight loss company owns the right to it.

So what does this mean? Well, anything I use with Sensa Fashion or Sensa…anything cannot be used as well.

I have had to go through a Re-branding before luckily so I know how to do this. It is not fun. It is tedious. Change all the names of where you are online. Change Twitter Accounts and emails. Change Blogs and Facebook pages, and so on and so forth.

People either love you or hate you for it I have found and in the midst of me growing I am hoping you grow with me and enjoy and welcome the change.

So why Trisha Trixie? Well, when I did my Re-branding the last time, my attorney said, “What is it that people know you by that no one can take away?”

My answer “Trisha Trixie”

And thus at THAT time became Trisha Trixie and Company. A Social Media and Web Company. But also in that time he advised that I go out and use the Trisha Trixie name so much there will never be an argument as to who owns the name. So I did. Go ahead. Good “Trisha Trixie” and you will be there for awhile. Images, pictures, logos, posts, you name it, there I am. So why not continue this trend when I decided to get back into PinUp Modeling? So I did that too.

This year my passion truly is to have a Vintage Inspired Apron Line and all the pretty things that go with it. My market is for Pin Up girls and moms and those who like the apron line and that embodiment of a retro or vintage woman.

I think Trisha Trixie embodies that.

But until I spoke to Susan from Business in Blue Jeans today I wasn’t aware of HOW MUCH it embodied it. Hearing someone else say it made me think about it more. Which then I researched more intently inside me thoughts of where I wanted to go and what I wanted to do. Was I willing to take the chance that the Sensa line could come after me? I did not want to build something up for someone to just take it away again. If I was going to change now, would be the time to do it.

I hope you all stay with me.

I hope you all will like the new changes we have in store for the rest of the year with this site and blog.

A new focus will be on Aprons, Recipes, Custom Made DIY projects, pretty things that go with aprons and things for PinUp Models as well that will go along with this line. The possibilities are not limited, in fact they are endless.

If you have any suggestions for us along the way, please let us know.

Since Corrina has alreadyprepared tomorrows post, I am going to leave it as is. Friday we will have our wrap up.

Starting Saturday I will be gearing you up for next week with a morsel of the direction the new site is going to take.

Sunday I am going to ask Corrina to share on of her favorite Sunday recipes.

And by Monday we will be in full force, look and direction for a new era of Trisha Trixie Designs.

I have already changed the logo of the site and the name…more changes will follow but I will try not to make them TOO drastically as I don’t want to give you all whiplash.

Thank you for following.

Thank you to those who understand and support.

I would love to hear your support and suggestions in our comments. Please click the little heart in the corner and share with us your thoughts. My Apron arms and ears are ready and waiting. You can also come check out our new look and LIKE it or LOVE it on our Facebook Page Trisha Trixie Designs.

Try It Tuesday~Tye Dye Today

When I first started hearing about Tie Dye being back in fashion I must admit I cringed a little. Let me explain myself, for those who are heating up and saying “how could you not like it!” And for those agreeing, let’s take a step back and consider a few things.

Tie Dye today is not the same as it was in the 70’s. I can back that up too. I started out looking and looking with a very biased mind and eye. I was sure that today’s Tie Dye was the same as it used to be. I was sure of it. THEN, I stumbled upon these:

Now I do have to admit that the skirt alone would  not be up to par but they attached it to a nice outfit. Still not convinced?

Check out these then:

This one has a nice vibrant coloring to it which makes it more appealing. It is also not a t-shirt or shorts. The colors do not blur together in a rather neutral shade either.

Stay with me now, I have more. I am determined that you can enjoy Tie Dye as much as I’m learning to.

With a front and back view this is encouraging
yet I am not a fan of the sheer skirting attached
to the back of it. I personally feel that it takes
away from the “elegance” of the dress. I must
admit though, the shoes caught my eye first!
And it gets even better. This one has elegance and class. I might consider this dress “dance worthy”.
And here’s one you could actually wear to a nice function or even to work at the office!
I have to add that it does have the swirl of the older Tie Dye but it seems “classier” here.
.
And speaking of the office….
For those with a more casual style, there are a few for you as well.

As a final coo I add this one last photo.
While I wouldn’t go for the shade shown here, it does tantalize the mind and
tempt one to try it on other hosiery. Maybe Tie Dye white tights/hose?

These are not necessarily Tie to Dye for but they do put a new perspective on an old fashion idea.
I hope you find this new old fashion interesting enough to go out and “try it”. Maybe by next Tuesday?
If you do choose to, be sure to come back and share your experience with us and some photos too.

Saturday Morning Special: Let’s Talk About IFB, Let’s Talk About You and Me, Let’s Talk About All The Good Things That Will Be

Let’s Talk About IFB,
Let’s Talk About You and Me,
Let’s Talk About All The Good Things That Will Be

What is all the hype about the IFB Fashion Conference you say? Well, it is the place we we as fashion bloggers mark our spot as as IFB states “solidify our place” as a Fashion Blogger. We get to meet all these famous people, learn from them, from their mishaps and misfortunes as well as what worked and helped them succeed. We get to meet other Fashion Bloggers we have been tweeting with and Facebooking with and put faces and names together.  I love how IFB says it is like Day Camp.

This will be my first year. For one I just found out about IFB. I didn’t even know they existed until this year. I happened upon someone else’s blog and sadly I don’t know who. I was searching online for some fashion seamstresses in my area and saw it on someone’s blog who DOESN’T live here and was like What is that? and after further investigation fell in love at first viewing! I signed up right away and started diving and delving in. As soon as I saw the IFBCON was but a few mere weeks away I started figuring out means and ways to get there.

At the tail end of last year I made the leap to get back into modeling full time. A few years a go I had SensaFashion as a business and had GRAND PLANS for this Blogging and Designing business and even met with a StartUpCityDSM a company here in Des Moines but plans fail to execute in my favor so I put it on the back burner and moved into a different direction. They helped me realize I wasn’t ready and though I felt like I left with my tail between my legs they did me a grand favor.

At the beginning of this year I reawakened SensaFashion and my Fashion Blogging, as well as my Design business and other services I offer. Things are moving forward well and fast and furious already and it isn’t even the end of January.

I tell you all this because it goes into why I feel it is important for me to go to NY now at this time and this moment in my career. With these new changes and how well things are doing for SensaFashion I did some demographic research. At the beginning of the month/year I was only reaching 32 people a day and now before the end of the month I am reaching over 600 people a day. That is without connections, without ads, without help. Where is the bump coming from? Independent Fashion Bloggers. I am nearly sure of it.

Yes, I do believe  my constant marketing and knowledge being a Social Media Strategiest has played a huge part, but I truly feel IFB has made a difference in my life and to wait and miss this opportunity I think would be a HUGE disservice to me and my company and my brand.

In the past few weeks changes have already begun taking place. I took a leap to say no to someone who was sucking the life out me and focus on my business and doors flung themselves open to me. I shared my design to a Bakery who is opening their doors to the public and they loved my Vintage Apron and Shirt Dress Design from my new line and placed the first order. A site that is widely known here http://www.desmoineisnotboring.com asked me to write a few pieces about the before, during and after of IFBCON as well be their regular Fashion Blogger (of which I am completely thrilled btw). I now have one Executive Assistant and two interns who also write on the blog with me and things are going swimmingly well. Life is moving along better than I could have EVER imaged and I have a pretty good imagination!!
(I think Disney-esque my friends say)

I can’t wait to go to IFBCON. I can’t wait to learn and grow and take my business to the next level. I know, I just know deep in my heart and gut that going to IFB will help me to do that and get there.  I am a leaper. I take chances. I know and realize not everyone feels this way. But I will say to you and encourage ALL of you who can, get your tickets to IFBCON.

I think it will change your life.

It already has changed mine.
