I love doing anything DIY if I can help it, especially if it will help save money in my pocket. Though I love Sephora, sometimes the things they sell can be a bit pricey when I could just make the item myself. For instance, I recently got a sample of a Brown Sugar Scrub and body wash. I thought “I could make this then I wouldn’t have to buy this!”
So I went searching around Google and Pinterest to see if I could find any DIY Brown Sugar Scrub but as I saw some Coffee scrubs, I thought “Wait, we use Rooibos loose tea, maybe I could incorporate this too!”
More searching only to find one or the other.
So…I made my own. Here’s how to make my Brown Sugar Autumn Body Scrub (I call it a Autumn Scrub because it smells more like Fall/Autumn time to me) :
- 1 cup of sugar or Brown Sugar (We don’t eat sugar in our house, so I used Truvia Crystals and added Molasses to make Brown Sugar until I got the consistency I liked, then added it to this recipe you might need only 1/3 cup if using Truvia. I did one cup and had to add more)
- **1 tbsp Loose Leaf Rooibos Tea (or more if desired) (If you only have tea bags, just cut open the tea bags for the amount you need/desire)(You can leave this step out if you don’t want it. The tea crystals are pretty messy in the shower, but not so bad in a bath, though beware of clogging your tub)
- 1/2 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tbsp ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon vitamin E, (cut open vitamin 4-6 Vitamin E liquid gel caps)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract or your favorite citrus essential oil (optional)
- 1/3 cup liquid oil – either almond, avocado, olive, or coconut. I like Olive Oil best but we also use Almond Oil in our house so sometimes I mix them together so I get a bit of both.
- If desired for dry skin, add a tbsp of Raw Honey
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine oil, vitamin E and vanilla. Add the brown sugar and mix well.
- Add your oil and mix together, it shouldn’t be to dry or two wet. If the mixture is dripping off your spoon, it’s too wet.
- Store in a container with a tight fitting lid and use whenever you feel the urge for a spa night!
- The above amount makes enough for your entire body, for a few washes.
To Use: In the shower, apply Brown Sugar Body Scrub into skin and rinse. Can be used daily.
**Trixie Tip: Please be aware that oils can make the shower and bath surfaces very slippery so remember to rinse well with hot water afterwards and wipe down so others (and yourself) do not fall. Also little rubber feet at the bottom of the shower or bath help you from sliding as well. If you don’t have that, I generally put a medium town down underneath me so I don’t fall.
Gift Packaging Idea: Though Mason Jars are GREAT for this, not everyone has them. Instead, save plastic containers from other products and replace the label with one I made myself on the computer. I use Washi Tape and fabric and a bow. Tie it up with a colorful ribbon and you have a wonderful homemade beauty gift!
**Sugar Scrub Variations
- Pumpkin Pie Scrub: 1 cup of brown sugar, 1/2 cup coconut oil, 1/2 tsp vitamin E oil and 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spices (or just 1/2 tsp cinnamon)
- Vanilla Brown Sugar Scrub: 1 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup almond oil, 1/2 tsp Vitamin E oil and 1 tsp real vanilla extract
- Lemon Hand Scrub (for after washing dishes): 1 cup white sugar, 1/2 cup olive oil, 1/2 tspvitamin E oil, 15-20 drops (or more) of lemon or orange essential oil
- Vanilla Lavender Relaxing Facial Scrub: 1 cup white sugar, 1/2 cup almond oil, 1/2 tspVitamin E oil, 1/2 tsp real vanilla extract and 15 drops lavender essential oil
Since we are all NOT Female stars in a wonderful TV Show like Mad Men, it would be rare to say we all have amazing dressing rooms and closets as well as fab wardrobes to chose from. We are all not lucky enough to have walk in closest and rooms where we can do fittings and change in.
Some may have these finer things in life, but I have found the common woman general has a closest she herself could barely fit in, much less all the wonderful clothes she desires to own and wear.
There are ways however to not only give yourself a fabulous dressing room but also to utilize the closest space and spaces you already have.
For instance, do you perhaps have a room in your home that is currently being unused? Perhaps it was formerly a children’s room or a den? What about in the basement? Do you have wide open spaces down there that is just waiting to be gobbled up by you? Perhaps you have a master bedroom and yet only a one you or you really only need a small bedroom to sleep in and could flip that mast bedroom around to be your own personal space?
The most important thing you can do is have a room where you can see all or as much of your items as possible. Now perhaps you will only be able to have a room to put your clothes in and will have the change nearby or somewhere else. Do the best you can with what you have. But I bet you would be surprised when looking around that you DO have the space to make a more wonderful space for yourself.
Then there is the under used and under utilized items. What is in your closest that you haven’t worn in a year? More than a year? What about coats? Are coats taking up those spaces? The general rule of thumb for when to remove an item from your wardrobe is if you haven’t worn it in a year, you most likely are not going to. There are the exceptions however to formal gowns etc…but this is where we start separating.
If you haven’t worn it and are not going to get rid of it. If it is a formal, collect all the formals and cover them with a wardrobe cover and hang them somewhere safe or cover them with a garbage bag and tie off the bottom. Attach a label to the hang so you know what they are.
If coats are invading your space, the remove all coats and put them in a coat closet or somewhere out of the way. I put even my formal coats with my other coats in the front hall closet, along with scarfs, hats and gloves for easier access when going out.
Once you have the items you are going to keep, you can start assessing the space. Make it an extension of you. Lighting(no fluorescent) (I prefer Daylight lamps) , colors on the walls( I prefer Pink on one wall) , pictures you desire (Anime images and things I have drawn make me feel pretty), a good full length mirror (one can be cheap for under $10 at Walmart) and perhaps a Vanity if you have the space for you to do your makeup(I found one at an Auction event but they can even be found at thrift stores or you can make a vanity from an old desk or computer stands work great to keep your makeup underneath on the keyboard tray).
Put your shoes on a door hanging rack, or get a small shoes holder to put underneath your clothes. You can also have them in a foyer, or along the hallway. Look for spaces that might work for these.
If you have a small closet and just won’t be able to create a Dressing Room space here are some tips from the Mad Men Fashion Files book and a few hints from me:
- Archive by season. (Clean things out and put in bins or boxes. I prefer plastic bins to keep my clothes fressh and I make a list of what is in them and then tape it to the top of the bin. Then I put them i the basement to rotate when the next season comes out)
- Whose Bed are your Items under (Sorry that was a joke from Shania Twain song…) ( At Target and Walmart etc they have bins that slide under your bed. Put shoes, belts, scarves and other misc items underneath it all.You can also store all those seasonal items if you have no where else to put them
- Hang it Up ( I use bulletin boards, tacks and nails to create a line up of my hair bandanas, scarfs, and belts. They are out in the open and it also uses the wall space. I mean why have a picture when You can have all your favorite items all around you. This also works for hanging up purses on the wall and many other items)
- Become a Label Crazed person. Buy label maker or use Masking Tape and box, bin and label the heck out of things. Get Ikea drawer boxes or something similar at Target or Walmart or Shopko and put things away and label label label. Then it is out of the way and organized as well
The women of Mad Men are lucky. They not only have a fabulous Fashion and Costume Designer who helps them pick out everything to wear, but they each have their own fabulous space to dress and shoes and do their makeup in. Some may have these same types of places in their homes, but as I said before the average woman does not.
Think outside of the box…this one being the box of your room.
When I was a teen and had no space, I learned how to put things under neath, hang things on walls and I tuned my bunk bed upside down and made it into a Wooden Futon/Daybed. I went to fabric stores and begged for remnants (the days when you didn’t have to pay for them)
A few years ago I live in a fabulous studio where there was a Murphy Bed. I love how it went up and got out of the way. Even Caroline on Two Broke Girls figured out a way to make a Murphy Bed and create more space for her and Max ( Yes I love that show)
Shop around thrift stores to find desk or things that will help you make a vanity or dresser or a space to put things away. Remember YOU can do nearly anything with something else. Refurbish it. Re Paint it, add different knobs. Transform a desk to a Vanity. Transform a TV cupboard into an Armoire. Unleash your creative side. Hang things up, put things out or label the heck out of them.
Make your closet your friend. Once you have the perfect space or cleaned out closet you can then put the items and things you DO need and WILL wear back in them. I organize by color, some organize by item (Dresses, skirts etc) That reminds me, I did add a pants bar in my tiny closet and gave myself another space for just my skirts. It completely transformed my closet. I also took off my door and hung a curtain for awhile but then I just took that down too.
Here are a few other images of my spaces and how I used them (Click on image to enlarge view and notes)
Here is an image of my full studio. I use my studio for dressing room, work space, create space and so much more…Perhaps you could use an area in your house for a dressing room and closest but make it the space you love to be in no matter what you do with it.

ACT NOW! DON’T DELAY!
This is a common thing I am asked quite often.
I believe that Aprons are a fashion accessory. I believe they can and should be worn out like one would wear a scarf, a necklace or a necktie. Apron can spice up ANY wardrobe, make, female, child, or even a pet or a doll!
When not wearing an apron out, I feel like I am leaving something behind.
But if I do, you can be sure that whatever I AM wearing is something I created, whether that is a Fascinator, a dress I made, my earrings, you name it, there is something from my creations.
Mostly, I love to make fashionable aprons because I hear the stigma of what people think an Apron is and I am not just out to get America to WEAR an Apron, I am trying to change a whole MINDSET!!
An Apron is NOT just for the Kitchen anymore and my aprons are NOT your grandma’s aprons.
I want to show you by creating fabulous things, dresses to go under them, fascinators to help accessorize them, and of course, Aprons that are spicy alternatives to dress up anything you wear or not wear (if you so prefer) to help add flair, spice and fabulousness to your life!
I am also NOT like other apron makers I have seen out there. Most work from their fabric in stock and create based on tissue paper patterns. Some design their own patterns, but then it is a constant “Cookie- Cutter” repeat of the same apron, with different fabric/textile.
I start from a Fashion Designer base FIRST! Meaning, I design based on the specs you give me in a quote from my Fashion Request Form. I then take that information and design within those parameters and then send you the design to approve. From there, within TWO WEEKS, I create your fabulous design.
You can choose if you want a Custom Apron or a BeSpoke Apron. Custom means I can use the design pattern I created for you and use it for another request. BeSpoke means you are the only one wit that design and it cannot be used for anything else.
You don’t see that from other Apron Makers, for the most part. I am sure there are one or two who “might” do that, but it is rare.
I feel and think this way of thinking has the potential to do as I desire and to help Apronize America because America will see how unique and different my aprons are as well as my mentality about wearing and using them.
Do I make Domestic Aprons? Yes, with Flair & Fabulousness!
Do I make other things? Yes, as long as they are true to my brand, meaning they will go WITH other things I create.
The questions I get asked most? Do I love what I do?
Yes. You know that song “Living what I love and loving what I do…”? That is the epitome of how I feel everyday.
What’s Next for Trisha Trixie?
Apron Builder. My Online Apron Creation Technology. On Apron Builder YOU are the designer. I give you the base template and you create what YOU desire. Then it gets printed and sent to you to construct by either sewing or other alternatives like No Stick Glue, Fabric Bond Adhesive or who knows, maybe you want to staple yours together! That is all on YOU!
What if I don’t want to use Apron Builder? Good thing you still have me! Trisha Trixie Designs will still be the Custom BeSpoke Apron Maker and myself and my seamstresses will be available to be of service to you!
So, you see…there is no reason NOT to wear an apron and I have even made it simple and easy for you to do.
Now, Let’s Apronize America together!
I would say I am a “Female Dandy”
In this article An Ode to That Rare Creature, the Female Dandy
the women exude a quality, a class, a style a way of living that is lived through passion, savoring of life,
the female dandy is its own archetype, known as the quaintrelle
The term comes from the wordquaint — a much more elegant coinage than its precursors, dandyessand dandizette.
As one online dictionary has it, a quaintrelle [Dandy] is
“a woman who emphasizes a life of passion expressed through personal style, leisurely pastimes, charm, and cultivation of life’s pleasures,”
and as the article states after quoting, shouldn’t that be all of us?
A further description later in the article gives another viewpoint..
“Her hands are gloved, she is helmeted, and inaccessible; a cold and disturbing beauty [through which] pierces a formidable being — this woman is free!”
While most of this is true, I do not feel that all “Dandy” women are cold and inaccessible. However, I do feel as this statement says, the women like this do tend to have that “Je ne se quoi”
I think I attain some of that, however being in The Des Moines Women’s Club reminds me every Wednesday that I still have something to strive for an attain. There are so many women in the club that have this, finesse, about them. The carry themselves with such eloquence and I admire them so just I used to admire ladies from my church in years past. There was one lady Sister Kiester that had this formidable quality about her. She hosted fine dinners, her clothes were always impeccable, and her was perfectly coiffed. She was something to aspire to.
I recently have thought more about my wardrobe choices, style, demeanor and manner in which I present myself and wonder if others look at me that way or if they just see me as some silly girl playing dress up? Then there are shows like Advanced Style who have this style and grace about them.
I get shown this movie over and over. People always send it to me or tell me I remind them of these ladies. I am 45 this year and have my own style and am told I fit the description of “people who live full creative lives. They live life to the fullest, age gracefully and continue to grow and challenge themselves.” As well, I believe Ari should check out The Des Moines Women’s Club with all the impeccable women who have that same sir and quality about them! I feel that style is relative and I desire to dress as I choose and have my own flair for dress as well as life.
I think Dietrich best described it summing up the allure of the quaintrelle:
Her attire isn’t meant to please others, only herself.
If you know me, you know one of my mantra’s is to always Be Yourself. Live your life for yourself. Do as you desire and happiness will follow. Wear what you desire to wear no matter how ostentatious it may be. If YOU love it, FEEL great in it, then that is all that matters.
I leave with you my Mantra
“When given the option of being fabulous, why would you choose anything else?”
Xoxo, Trisha Trixie
I always wanted to have my own line of my scent “Be Fabulous by Trisha Trixie”. It has a luscious scent that is a sensual, feminine, enticing , alluring and beguiling with aphrodisiac and goddess oils hinting at floral notes and a spicy musk.
It is a scent that started long ago. When I was younger, my mother use to have this “Attraction Oil” she called it that she would rub on her wrists and neck before going out or meeting with a client. I loved the way it smelled and how it wafted gloriously through the air after she left the room. When I was older I remember hugging her after getting off the plane to visit and I said “You smell like my mommy!” and we laughed and she asked “What does that mean?” I responded, “That scent, I remember that scent. That is you, that scent reminds me of you!” When we got home she handed me a small bottle and told me it was called “Passion Oil” but it was no where to be found. She called it “Attraction Oil” because it seemed like every time she wore it, she attracted people, things, followers, like a magnet! She said she kept adding olive oil to it to try to make it last longer. Then she gave me the bottle and said, “Here, enjoy. I’ve attracted more than my fair share though I am sure with or without it I will attract more, I always do!” and then we laughed (if you knew my mother, you would know how VERY true that statement is!) . (Also funny is when I had my fiancee’ smell the lotion I created he nearly said the same thing)
For years I carried it around and one day when I was in an eclectic mysteries shop I was perusing and saw some oils. After smelling a few I found some that almost smelled like my moms passion oil. I took them home and made up my own mixture and let it ferment or sit in the dark for awhile. After a few months I opened it and to my happy surprise, I had found the mixture that smelled like my mother’s passion oil.
I bought some tiny bottles and used washi tape around them for decoration and added a cute ribbon and attempted to sell these vials of Be Fabulous scent. But, it didn’t really take off and wasn’t QUITE what I wanted. So I put the oil back under the cupboard and pulled it out every now and then to wear.
Then one day, at a vendor show, I met Carrie from Daisy Girl. She was selling amazing soaps, lotions, candles, etc with these great scents! I bought Little Black Dress scent from her and through the show we chit chatted and exchanged info. I contacted her to further find out if we could arrange a Joint Venture with my scent to make up some items. She agreed and after discussing back and forth what I wanted, how much scent is needed, Carrie even packaged it , labeled it, and sent it to me. Now we are working on having one of her lip balms customized for me and some wedding favors done for me as well. ( If you are desiring bulk custom orders, contact her, she would be happy to oblige for personal, weddings, business or anything you might need. I know after working with her, she is a great person to work with and does everything she can to assist you.)
Yesterday, I received my FIRST shipment (as I just know I will be ordering more) of my new scent “Be Fabulous by Trisha Trixie” and I am so excited, I squeeeee!!
This scent embodies me in so many ways….
“I am a lover of life. I savor it and I find passion in it. My father passed when I was young so I learned early, life is short, so live it while you can. My biggest inspiration is my mother, who instilled the desire within me to make a positive difference in the lives of those I meet and to leave a positive feeling on the world. There is a song by JJ Heller that talks about living life this way that I made a video of here… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBA1y2WKRx8
“When I leave I want to leave something behind. I want to be known as someone who made a difference. Not something small, but a significant difference. I want to be that person that people remember. I want to be one like my father Art that everyone remembered and none will ever forget. I want to be like my Mother Mary who left a fragance of love and compassion behind her always. Just like the song says… I want to leave my fragrance behind. A positive fragrance that will have touched the world and hopefully your life will be better for being in mine because I made a difference to you 🙂 Someday when this life is over…I’l fly away…I’ll fly away..when I leave…I wanna leave a memory….(Will You Remember Me?)
I want to shine wherever I go. I want to leave a positive fragrance behind. I want to make a difference. I want people to know they can count on me. I want to share my story and my life with others, so that I may help them along their journey. I want to leave a legacy of love. In the end, this is what inspires me the most.”
Mostly the line “I want to leave a positive fragrance behind.” really stuck with me. Anytime after my mother left a room, whether she was wearing her oil or not, people always talked about her, how great she was, how much energy she had, how good they felt about themselves because SHE made them feel that way and they would say…
There is something about her. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but she exudes this way about her, that is simply magnetic and magical, that you are just, drawn to her
Many women would hate to be like their mother, but if you tell me that, I find it as a complete compliment! I have lived my life following her guidelines and teachings, her ways and holding to high values and morals like my mother.
This joint venture for my own line is more than just having a line with my scent. It is my vision to honor my mother as well as create a lasting legacy for myself as well. I wish we were able to be closer, talk more and laugh and enjoy life like we used to. However, she lives far away and at over 60 years, my mother is just as energetic and alive as she was when I was younger, busy as well and constantly doing things to help others. As the baby, of course I want her time, but knowing that to this day she still helps others and does everything she can to help her fellow man, I can’t be mad or annoyed at this because I know one day my kids will probably be saying the same. She is my inspiration. She is amazing to me. I honor her in every way. I love her to the moon and back.
To create this line with Daisy Girl is my way to always have my mother with me, in my mind, in my heart in my soul and now, just like she always does, to share my life with others. Life is amazing. It is Fabulous. My mother is Fabulous. I am passing forward from her, to you, this legacy to Be Fabulous, where you go, whatever you do. Now I share the legacy with you…
Like the song says,
I want to leave a legacy of love,
I want to leave my fragrance behind

Well, Let’s try this again and see how things are looking…
Whoa, a little crazy. I even am using my Chair for some of the Kerchiefs I am currently working on. Backs of chairs make great hangers 🙂
Well, as you can see prepping for two shows this week has left my WorkDesk AND my Studio in a bit of a shambles. This is a tell tale sign I am prepping for a show. If ever there is a big rack in the middle of my studio taking up all the space, you know it’s showtime.
So what does YOUR WorkDesk look like today? I would love to see.
Laugh. Smile. Watch comedy shows if need be. Just enjoy life. Don’t worry about what others think, just go do what you like to do to have fun. Ok, disclaimer…if you are a psychopath and like to kill others for fun please don’t do that. But if you want to swing on swings, do it (which by the way is my ultimate favorite thing to do). If you want to plank on the hot ground, do it. If you want to be silly, do it. If you want to crochet all day or knit or sew, do it. YOU know what you like to do for fun and what fun means to you. Do that and be that.
If you DON”T know what fun means, try some things out until you do.
I also have a De-Suckify List I learned from Leonie Dawson. I made a list of things to do when I feel life suck or I am not “in a good mood” On my list”
Watch a funny movie
Play Fun Music
Take a shower
Just no matter what, remember to have fun.
Until Next Time,
Xoxo Trisha Trixie
As you may have read I recently found a myriad of tags for bloggers. This inspired me to do today’s post – WorkDesk Wednesday. These are simple little posts about what everyone’s WorkDesk Looks like. Since I have two Workdesks, I took a picture of them each and then each one individually.
Well, that is it for #WorkDeskWesday.
Comment below with your blog or pictures of what YOUR WorkDesk looks like today!!
Until Next Time,
I learned a long time ago that is you want to be found online, if you have to TAG. If anyone knows how to tag it’s THAT GIRL (ha ha see what I did there)
I am a constant tagger too but even I lack tagging in certain categories that I see she had.
A good way to add tags to your own Blog or website is to do what I did today. Look at other sites that are similar to yours and copy their tags. There is nothing wrong with copying as long as it really does fit your site/blog. Search out sites that do similar things as you. look for blogs that are similar. I like Bloglovin because I can see other bloggers who do Fashion and Aprons and write in other ways like I do. Then I take a peek at their tags and see what they are tagging. Sometimes it is the same as mine, nothing new, but every now and then I come across a blogger who has completely different tags than I have and I think “Now why didn’t think of using that tag!?” When you see those, grab em! Copy them and add then to you Blog site or Website. Believe me, that one “little” tag could be the thing that gets you found online over other competitors!
If you don’t sell things Bikers would like, don’t use the tag word Biker. If you don’t sell Soap, don’t tag the word soap. Now if you write a blog about Soap, then Tag Soap. Am I making any sense here?
No, ok let’s go back. Only use tags for things you are talking about, selling, writing or doing.
But wait, you say, if I use other tags that aren’t things I am doing, won’t that help bring business to my page? Well, you would think so. But what ends up happening is that people will come to your site looking for those items and then when they realize you don’t sell them and only used them to get you to their page, generally they get pretty upset about it.
If you want to use other tags to bring people to your site or page, the best way I have found is to write a blog about those things. Then you can use the tags and write about them to generate more traffic.
Until Next Time,
XoXo Trisha Trixie

So…do you know what a Subscription Box is? I didn’t until I became a blogger for nail polish.
A Subscription Box is a monthly subscription purchase from the same company each month that automatically ships out after payment is received. There are TONS of Subscription Boxes out there. From simple sample boxes like Ipsy, BeautyBox and Birchbox to Full-size companies like SquareHue, TasteGuru and Color Me Monthly. Prices range from $5.00 to over $50.00 depending on which one you choose.
Today’s post is about a Subscription Box that I have been with a VERY long time, SquareHue. SquareHue is a Nail Polish subscription box (of course ) and they send 3 full-size (15ml) custom bottles of nail polish for $21.00 per month.
The really neat part of SquareHue’s appeal: HueGive.
For each sale of a box from SquareHue, they donate a portion to help fight human trafficking…

This is How We Do
When I was thinking about writing this post thing song came into my head. Now I am sure that I am dating myself by playing this because it is from the FIRST TMNT Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. Regardless, it had to be played.
This is what we don’t and this is what we do.
- In the coming year of 2015 I hope to bring you much joy.
- I hope to help you to Be Fabulous and to Map Out your next Five Fabulous Years with you.
- I hope to show you new ideas, new apron ideas and a new line of clothes and accessories I have been wanting to do for some time.
- I hope to be more connected with you and be more On Board with our Mailchimp Newsletter and Pinafore my Thoughts Blog posts.
- I hope to be the light in your day and smile in your night.
These like resolutions for me and my business. But instead of saying these are goals or resolutions I say HOPES because we all have great intentions as one year closes and another opens but life gets in teh way and stuff happens and we are unable to do all those goals and such.
I don’t like the feeling of beating myself up because I failed in one place or the other.
No, to me I see it as an opportunity for growth. Areas I can do better.
So these are my hopes for next year.
I leave you with one things I need to know fro you, however…
What do YOU want to see from Trisha Trixie in 2015?
If I don’t ask, you don’t tell and if you don’t tell, I can’t even HOPE to give it to you…so DO TELL, I’m listening and waiting with baited breath to hear what you have to say and what you want to see from Trisha Trixie Designs!
Talk to you real soon!

There are many attractive people out there, but that doesn’t make them beautiful. I hear so many people say they know someone who is gorgeous on the outside but ugly on the inside. To be truly fabulous , you must be both. Beautiful on the inside and out!
How do you do that?
Be Yourself. You do that by being yourself , for one. I like a quote I saw that said “Be yourself, everybody else is taken.” How true it is. Don’t worry about what others are saying or doing or wearing or being, don’t try to be them, just be you.
Love yourself. Fall in love with yourself. Every imperfection, every flaw, ever great thing and every mediocre thing. Realize you are not perfect and then accept those imperfections. Every thing that you are is WHO you are. Be that person. down to the core.
Embrace your past. “You have to put your past behind you.” Isn’t that what the monkey said in Lion King? Whatever happened when you were younger, whatever someone said to you, or did to you, or treated you in the past, is just that…in the past. I don’t think we can truly “forget” it but see it for what it is…your character. All those things have made you who you are today. Embrace them. Welcome them into your heart. Those things in your past helped shape, you form you, build your character. I love my past. For every good, great and awful thing that happened.
Dig Deep. Dig deep down into your soul. Who are you? Are you a bitch? Are you an asshole? Are you sweet? Are you too trusting? ?Do you like who you are? Do you want to change who you are? When you dig deep, way down to the core, it can be very hard. I have done it and I had to take a good hard look at myself and decide if I liked that person or not. The areas I didn’t like I then had to decide if I cared and if I wanted to change them or not. I truly believe when things are miserable enough, awful enough and you don’t like them enough, that’s when you change and grow. But just like an illness of alcoholism or other drugs, you have to see the problem and accept it before you can change and grow. You think comparing yourself to a drug is odd? Well, think about this…if you are allowing yourself to be toxic to yourself, it is a drug. If you are allowing others to be toxic to you, it is a drug. How so? Well, toxicity IS a DRUG. Some people FEED off it. They feed off the drama. They feed off the attention. They are addicted to their story. They are addicted to being a “victim” so much so, that they can’t see past it. They wonder “Why is my life always have problems?” or “Why does drama always happen to me or around me?” yet failing to see how they are thriving on it like they would a drug. You have to recognize it, then tackle the problem. Once you do then you can conquer those things and issues that are holding you back from becoming the best you that you can be. Digging deep and seeing yourself for who you REALLY are is hard. I won’t lie. It can really hurt your heart when you see how you have been acting or treating others or what toxicness you have allowed in your soul. But do not dwell on that. See it for what it is and then be determined to change it.
Set, Make, and Keep Boundaries. I have talked about this before. The very best thing you can do for yourself is to Set, Make and Keep boundaries for yourself. Set them by writing them down on a piece of paper or online. Make them by taking action on them. Keep them by not allowing other over the line of those boundaries. Past boyfriends, ex husbands or wives, family members or those really close to you are the hardest to keep those boundaries with. We think we need to allow them to keep treating us like dirt and you know what…YOU DON’T! Never allow anyone to diminish your shine! Hold to your boundaries. Do not be like Bugs Bunny and Yosemite Same and keep saying “Do not cross this line” then let them cross the line and make a new line. Make your line, be firm, stick to it. At first it will suck. It will hurt. It will be hard. I am not gonna lie. But after a few more times and then those toxic people either leave because you’re not fun to play with anymore because they can’t hurt you because you won’t let them….or you see those people for who they REALLY are and you finally let go of them and their issues and drama. When you do, a huge weight will life and you will stand there in an air like a feather or happiness and you will say to yourself “Why did I let that go on for so long. I am SO much happier now” Just because to not swell on the fact that you let it go on. Do not beat yourself up about it. Embrace it, and when another comes around, hold to your boundary once again. It is the best way to love yourself and be true to yourself that will make your soul shine and your inner beauty really start shining through.
Be Determined. Be determined to be better. Be the best. Be Fabulous. The new road to getting past all that can take time. It can take some real hard soul searching. It can hurt to see what you have allowed in your life from others and possibly yourself. But there are ways to get through it. I did by taking Soul Restoration I and II from Brave Girls Club.. I am going to start next year in Soul School and reconnect with my own soul. SR really helped me reach deep and see the pain, hurt and heartache I was carrying around with me. Once I got past it and really opened up my soul to all the great things, I felt like a weight had been lifted from me and I was no longer carrying bricks of defeat around anymore. I took some other courses at the same time to help my business and reach for my dreams such as When I grow Up, Right Brain Business Plan and Amazing Biz Life Academy which also made a VAST difference in me reaching and going for my dreams! Last year I took Susan B Moe’s Business in Blue Jeans webinar and it changed my life not to mention joining the best inspiration of my life Miss Stephanie St. Claire and her 7 Miracles along with Blissbomed which got me out of a victim mindset and into healing, success and life changes I never thought I could have!
Be Mindful. How do you be mindful? Well, most of all keep learning. You don’t have to be an eternal student racking up debt to be mindful either. With the internet at the tips of our fingers, there is SO much to be able to take part of free, and at some cost. Craftsy, You Tube, Udacity, and even just searching on Google will help you find what you need to learn, to grow, to read books, watch videos, etc. There is no reason why you aren’t learning what you need to know or desire to know. If you don’t have a computer, go to the library. You can use the computers there, or go to a resource center in your area as many of them have computers you can use for free as well. Ask a family member or a friend to let you use one or look online Craigslist or Ebay or such and find a used laptop or desktop and get what you need. Plus each area has some form of Community Classes or Adult Education that you take part in for free or minimal costs to learn and grow your mind. To have a beautiful mind you have to exercise it, challenge it, grow it and what I like to say ABL, Always Be Learning.
Take Care of You. On the outward appearance side of things your tasks are geared toward taking care of yourself. I don’t believe you have to be a certain weight or certain height or wear a certain set of clothes, etc to be Beautiful. I think it goes back to getting down to the core of things. Take care of yourself, eat right, get enough sleep, exercise to help your body be healthy as well as it does have some fit factors, take care of your teeth, your hair, your body and your clothes. If all those things are in good shape, then you are set. If not, take a personal assessment and make changes where you need to or want to. Not sure where to start? Think about a life coach or even search online for Personal Assessment or Health Assessment or something in that realm. If you want to change your clothes search for Updating my Wardrobe ideas. If you want to update your Hairstyle, look for those ideas. Again, there are SO many resources you can lean on. Even the most kempt together person needs a little improvement here or there. I recently did a health assessment and realized if I worked out more I would FEEL healthier and have more energy. I looked at my hairdo and decided I wanted something different so I searched for Redhead bangs and found some cute style so I can start the new year with a bang, with BETTIE BANGS! 🙂 I also am not afraid to ask. Ask others for hand me downs, ideas, or help. Get an Accountability Partner for you, your goals or even your business. Someone who has the same mindset as you and wants to have an Accountability Partner too will help you both. Meet once a week online, over the phone or in person if you can and hash over your goals and where you are each week. It will really make a difference.
Full Circle Fabulous. Bringing it all together. I am sure I could go on and there are other deeper things to add, but I think the essence is here. If you follow these things are start on your path, take some initiative to make the necessary changes in your life and to make your life better, then you will be on the road to your heart and mind to help yourself to be a complete package.
Until next time,

Stay True to You
Don’t change just to change. Change, grow evolve because you desire to.
Don’t EVER change for someone else or compromise your boundaries or values.
You know what you feel comfortable with and you generally know when you have crossed the line. If you do cross it and you don’t feel right, remember that you can ALWAYS walk away.
If it doesn’t fit, feel right, or you are more uncomfortable than you can be, then try something else, walk way. Above all, be you.
What is funny about today’s message is after grilling Miss Sandra Bee to have a tagline, I find out that this is here little tagline she says. “Stay true to you”
All I can say is, great minds think alike!
Until Next time my lovelies,

Hey all my fabulous fashionistas! Today is a great day for businesses. BLACK FRIDAY!
Big or small, doors were open for retail business this morning. Some as early as yesterday afternoon. :OUCH: The good part about online selling is that you have a chance to shop from the comfort of your home without fighting the crush of the busy Black Friday shoppers. Want to shop right now? Go Visit Trisha Trixie’s website for some truly awesome deals.
But I got all distracted. Where did “Black Friday” come from? Did you know that it has been around for quite some time…just not called “Black Friday” right away.
“The term “Black Friday” was coined in the 1960s to mark the kickoff to the Christmas shopping season. “Black” refers to stores moving from the “red” to the “black,” back when accounting records were kept by hand, and red ink indicated a loss, and black a profit. Ever since the start of the modern Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in 1924, the Friday after Thanksgiving has been known as the unofficial start to a bustling holiday shopping season.
In the 1960’s, police in Philadelphia griped about the congested streets, clogged with motorists and pedestrians, calling it “Black Friday.” In a non-retail sense, it also describes a financial crisis of 1869: a stock market catastrophe set off by gold spectators who tried and failed to corner the gold market, causing the market to collapse and stocks to plummet.”
So, way back in 1924…the Friday after the first Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade…people began thronging to the stores in hope of getting a great deal on something either they wanted/needed or someone else wanted/needed.
Since then, the furor has grown, and through thick and thin, Black Friday has stood the test of time.
More and more over the last few years, Black Friday has become less spectacular in the eyes of many, myself included. Stores are rushing the season…starting mention of Black Friday at the beginning of November. Even so much as taking over THANKSGIVING in their rush to making the almighty dollar! What the heck?
I have always been of the opinion that Thanksgiving should be left as a day of rest, peace and enjoying family. Not all service industries have the day off…imagine if Nurses, Doctors, Pharmacists, Police Officers and Firefighters took the day off? Uh, yeah…not gonna happen. I have never counted the Whipped Cream as a MUST HAVE…if I didn’t remember it until Thanksgiving Day. You just went without. Apparently, I am in the minority though…because most (not all, thank goodness!) Grocery Stores and Retail Shops are open on Thanksgiving at some point. Sad, really…
A good portion of many people’s shopping nowadays is done online. I can get fully behind shopping online…until Aunt Penny (fictitious name, of course), decides that you are still 18 and not 38…and sends you clothing way too small, inappropriate for you or…let’s face it, just isn’t for you. Thankfully, if you contact retailers online and explain the problem, some will work with you…though most likely you will have to send back said item. Which is okay…if you cannot really see the purpose of having a Barney 2T sweatshirt in your life…and need to get rid of it ASAP.
Usually, I just regift…or donate said item to the church. If your aunt asks how you like it…”Oh, Aunt Penny…it was just way too small…so I gifted it to a kiddo that can use it.” This will make you look good to Aunt Penny AND you really have likely helped out a kiddo in need.
Until next time, my beauties…In whatever you say or do, stay true to you.
