Fly Lady Fridays: H2Oh?

Today for Fly Lady Friday with summer fast approaching I want to remind you as Fly Lady has to drink your water.


I have SUCH a hard time with this. I hate tap water, I won’t drink FARM water and bottle water can be so expensive. I was buying those Vitamin Waters called Dragon Fruit or Power C but bottle after bottle it concerned me how much I was spending as well as the waste I am accumulating from bottles. Yes I DO recycle but still.


When I was at the Healthy Living Expo a month or so back I bought a tall metal drink holder. Not only are these great for hot beverages but they are even better for cold ones.


If you put some cold water in there and put it in the fridge for the next day it is nice and cold. But if I forget, I just add some ice cubes and let it sit while I get ready for my day and then I add some filtered refrigerator water.  My man bought me some water enhancer and I like those. There are a variety to choose from


I also like to add some Reconstitued Lemon or Limne Juice.


Most know these as the little fake Lemon or Lime looking thingy

It is cheaper and you can add what you like to your water. Plus Lemon or Lime aid your digestion AND because of that help in weight maintenance if desired.

I know some use those powder packets and I recently tried the Hibiscus one from Strabucks brand and REALLY liked it

No matter what you choose to help you out, just please as the summer heat rises remember to take water or a bottle with you that you can fill. Take one of these little things to make your water drinkable if needed.

One last thing to beat the heat for me, besides some AGUA is a hat. So drink your water and wear your hat!

Flylady Friday: For the Kids and Father’s day ideas

I have lots of friends with kiddos out of school for the summer.  I think that Flylady has some really unique ways to get the kids involved in clean up.  She sends out daily assignments for the kids and they are really fun.

June 13th challenge went as follows

Hi Kids!
Today I want you to open up the doors of your closet and check to see if you have any clothes that have fallen off of the hangers and havebecome jumbled up on the floor of the closet.Set a timer or ask a grown up to set a timer for 5 minutes and see how much you can hang back up. If you can’t reach the rod to hang these things back up, ask a taller person to give you some hangers, you then hang the clothes on the hangers, and ask that tall person to help you hang them up. If you need to set the timer again, then do so for another 5 minutes. If you find some things that no longer fit or you do not use, put those in a bag and give them to Mom or Dad to bless someone else with.

Remember less stuff to clean and put away means more time to play.

I know that getting kiddos to clean is always a challenge, but we just have to find clever ways to make cleaning fun.  Timers and choices allow for lots of fun!

A friend of mine is a foster mother and her home is full of little boys.  Sometimes this can make her cleaning job more difficult.  So, she gives them a “helper” task.

The littlest one is three and she gives him a norwex microfiber cloth and lets him clean anything, but the TV that he chooses.  He loves being a helper and the norwex magic really does help her home stay clean.  There are no chemicals and he really can’t hurt a thing.  What could be better?  The walls became amazingly clean as this little guy got right to work.

Father’s Day

Does dad like to clean?  My dad always enjoyed cleaning his car and making it shine.  Norwex has some fun products for dad.  The dust mitt works great for dusting of the inside of the car and the leather cleaner will do wonders for cleaning up leather seats in your car!

Friday Flight Plan: Crash and burn

So, this week the flight plan had to do with organizing and cleaning the living room.  Well, this has been a crazy week for me.  It was the last week of school and we began to demo out the kitchen.

So, cleaning up my living room was less of a priority than it might have been on another occasion.  At this point, this is the state of my house.

However, I did incorporate more of the daily routines into my schedule.  The evening before each day I began to plan out my day; getting my clothes ready, having my keys organized and just getting all of my work stuff together prior to going to bed.  I was able to get my boyfriend to “fluff” the bed and he continues to do this.  Daily, I do a load of laundry and this has really kept my work load and stress down.

The bedroom and the kitchen have remained clean and organized and this really has helped with our demolitiion work.  It is nice to be able to find and locate everything that I need and not have to run around the house looking for items.

I know I need to drink more water and this is a goal of FlyLady for June.  Make sure to check out her site for more ideas that will work for you.

One amazing product that I think everyone needs to try is the Enviro Cloth by Norwex.  My boyfriend used this cloth to clean a sticky chemical mess we found under our sink with the cloth.  First, the chemical mess was no match to the enviro cloth and then the cloth claim amazingly clean by just running it under the sink.  These clothes work without soap and work better than harsh chemicals.  Don’t believe me? I do not feel bad about not getting much cleaning or organizing done this week.  It is all “baby” steps.  However, I did try to keep the philosophy in mind and donated many items that I found in my cabinets that I knew that I would never use again.  Keep the mindset.

Flylady Friday: Baby Steps

So, this weeks challenge was to clean the bathroom and a guest room(the one where you throw all your clutter)

First things first, you really need to sign up for the flylady emails.  Daily tips and tricks are going to fly your way.  I only took the time to read the emails written by Kelly.  Those from her viewers are about how well the program and products she offers (the purple rags and drain clogger are sure to be mine soon) work may be more beneficial as I continue to work the program.  However, my focus is just to do what I can and try not to whine.  Flylady says that saying, “I don’t have the time,” is the same as whining and we must get rid of this “stink in’ thinkin'”  So, I take the time to read the “flight plan” emails.

On Mondays, FlyLady offers a weekly plan;

This week we are in the bathroom and another room. The other room will be our Guest Room/ area! This means whatever room that you have that is your dumping ground. For most people it would be the guest room/area.


Clear off the Hotspots that have gathered on the back of the tub and the
bathroom sink tops.

Guest/Extra Room

Grab a bag and do a 27 fling boogie of things to throw away. The things that
are obvious trash. We are not doing anything other than getting rid of things
to toss. Set your timer for 15 minutes and do as many 27 flings as you can!
Have fun with these missions!



I couldn’t do all of her flight plan tips, but I tried a few.  But, I do have clutter.

1. I took 15 minutes and through away product, cleaning supplies and empty bottles.  I was amazed that I filled a garbage sack.  So heavy the man had to take it out!


2. Then, I was inspired to reorganize.  My boyfriend said, “Everything is put away and not on the counters, but I can find it.”  That made me smile.

3.  I then cleaned all the back spots of my tub, sink and toilet.  Not in the same day and I did it in 15 minute increments.  I mean who doesn’t have 15 minutes?



Impressively, It has stayed fairly clean.  🙂

So, the guest room.  In my house, we call it the dog room.  It is the room where we throw everything.  The man keeps his clothes there and dirty stuff and junk piles up.  I’m sorry it is the room I keep the door closed on for a reason.  I wasn’t willing to take pictures during the process, but in 15 minute increments I did get it clean!

1. I went in and picked up the garbage.

2.  I picked up anything that should have a home in another place in the house.  Yes, including the laundry.  I even washed several loads of his clothes!  (I think the boy might like my new Flylady trial!)

3. I wiped furniture down, swept and made the bed.  All in just 15 minute increments throughout the week.

With little tricks and trips throughout the week I was able to make a big difference.

And look I added a hamper to room to help us maintain organization!

My cousin asked to come stay this weekend and I didn’t have to turn him down, because I was embarrassed of the space.  But as you can see, he will have to share the dog room!

For next week I am going to try to maintain a morning and evening routine.  There are a few things I can’t complete such as making the bed every morning or unloading the dishwasher as my man sleeps much later than I do.  He might be agitated if I make the bed with him in it!  But I think a routine will benefit me.

FlyLady Fridays: Getting started on the declutter

How many times do you open a closet, a drawer or a back room and say, “I need to reorganize?”  Well, it happens to me almost daily  

I’ve had girlfriends ask me for help, because they think I must be organized because my house looks neat and put together, but I don’t let them into the closets!  

Does your junk drawer look like this?  

I’m going to begin to try to fix these messes in my home and the first suggestion from the FlyLady is to join her email.  So, I’d recommend that you do the same.  I’m going to read the newsletters and continue to highlight suggestions on how to implement some “baby steps” to organize myself.

To begin with I thought it would be good to start with the

FlyLady’s 11 Commandments 

1. Keep your sink shiny and clean

2. Get dressed every morning, even if you don’t feel like it. Don’t forget your lace-up shoes.  Don’t forget your Trishatrixie designs!


3. Do your morning and before-bedtime routine everyday.

4. Don’t allow yourself to be sidetracked by the computer.

5. Pick up after yourself. If you get it out, put it away.

(So you don’t end up looking overwhelmed)

6. Don’t try to do two projects at once. ONE JOB AT A TIME.

7. Don’t pull out more than you can put back in one hour.

8. Do something for yourself everyday, maybe every morning and night.
9. Work as fast as you can to get the job done. This will give you more time to play later.
10.  Smile even when you don’t feel like it. It is contagious. Make your mind up to be happy, and you will be.
11. Don’t forget to laugh everyday. Pamper yourself; you deserve it!
